It’s like a poster buffet over here today. Hope you have a big appetite.
First up we have the Glow in the Dark NIGHT OF THE CREEPS poster by Jon Smith. This bad boy is hand numbered, 24×36 and printed at D and L screenprinters out of Seattle, WA.
Next up we have round two in the ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW poster set. Ken Taylor returns to blow holes in your wall with the tag team of Columbia and Frank-N-Furter. As with the first set, the cut set measures 12×36 and the uncut set measures 24×36. This print is four color, hand numbered and was printed at D and L screenprinters.
Last, we have this crazy THE GOONIES poster by Drew Millward. This measures in at 18×24, hand numbered and is printed at D and L. Really, how nuts is the Gold parchment variant?! There are only 30 of the variant, so move now. As of now, we’ve already sold around 10. Don’t miss out!
Put the Wii stick down, come out of your parents basement and step out into the light this weekend. There is SO much stuff going on this weekend here in Austin (and Houston). First, we have the massive NIGHT OF THE CREEPS reunion screening at the Ritz. If you haven’t got your tickets yet….OOPS! They’re all gone. There will be a poster for sale for the event, so you can still own a piece of greatness. (I’ve seen it…you’ll like it.)
Next, we have the ROT RALLY. I heard Robbie Knievel is going to jump multiple somethings in front of the Capital downtown. Robbie isn’t near as cool as his dad, but I watched his reality show and he jumps stuff for a living so he’s way cooler than any of us based on that fact alone.
MARK TODD is in the house this weekend (literally for me). He and his wife Esther Pearl Watson are going to be hanging out at Domy for their solo shows.
Esther will be at Domy Austin Friday night.
Mark will be at the Houston Domy. I’ll be at both events with Mark’s Badasses print set and the Badass Cinema shirts he did for us. Come and hang out.
Four of us went to see this last night. Don’t be fooled, it’s a shitty movie, but that’s obvious by the trailer. The real mystery is if this movie was deliberately made to beĀ shitty or just a gloriously failed attempt at greatness. I’m guessing the former. What are your thoughts?
If you don’t know who Frank Henenlotter is, click HERE right now. If you’re into horror movies, you’ll love him as this guy was killing it in the 80′s. Literally.
Today’s murder Monday is from BRAIN DAMAGE.
Anyone recognize the voice of Aylmer the drug pushing alien? It’s horror host Zacherley!
Henenlotter also did cool things like cross characters over from his other movies. For instance, you can see the man holding the basket from BASKET CASE riding the subway in BRAIN DAMAGE. Never seen BASKET CASE? Well, here’s a clip dubbed in Italian:
(If anyone knows if this prop still exists, get ahold of me. No joke, I’ll pay whatever you want for it.)
Check Henenlotter’s movies out. You won’t be disappointed.
If you follow us on our Twitter account, you’ll probably notice me re-tweeting releases of friends’ vinyl toys and showing off pictures of stuff I’ve picked up recently. I love showing cool stuff off to fellow nerds and I am so excited to tell you all about one of my new favorite toy makers…VELOCITRON!
Every monster must come from something and Velocitron has decided to show the different stages of the monsters growth…starting from the egg!
This particular piece is called Bechigon and is the Battalion version. Why is this particular one the Battalion version? Velocitron explains, “The paint job was inspired more or less by old 80′s horror movie posters, hence the version name: Battalion was the name given to Return of the Living Dead for its Japanese release.” How cool is that?! True horror nerds! If you liked our DEADLY SPAWN shirts, then you’ll LOVE the larva stage of the monster:
This version of the monster is called the Larvagon and is actually two figures in one. The inner monster pops out in effect, shedding its skin! I was lucky to score a glow version of the Larvagon and have to say it’s one of my favorites.
If you want to read more about the progression of Velocitron and the next evolutionary step in the monsters life, check out their blog HERE.
I’m kind of becoming a Twitter-aholic over here and I want you to join me. Not only are we building a mighty fine community of nerds over on our Twitter page, it’s also a great place for you to find out about exclusive sales and discounts. We released a bunch of rare posters over the Memorial Day weekend and if you weren’t on there, you didn’t get them! FACT!
Bottom line, join in on the movement. Mondo is growing fast and in the next few months, we’re going to be making some big moves and you’ll definitely want to be in on it. It’s going to be a fun ride!
I’m sure that most of the people that read this blog have already seen DRAG ME TO HELL. Word on the street(street changed its name to internet a long time ago) is that Mr. Raimi has made his triumphant return to directing horror. Without any debate or question, he is a GREAT director, but I think he needs to get more respect as an actor. He has really become kind of a Dick Miller type of guy with me. I love it when I’m watching something and he’s a newscaster or a security guard or someting.
So, in this speical Raimi Edition of Murder Monday, I thought I’d show you some of the best non-Raimi directed deaths involving the man of honor. Come on…It’d be way too easy for me to go on youtube, type in EVIL DEAD and pull off all of the best kills from the trilogy and put them in here. That’s just lazy though, right?
First up is one of my favorite horror movies…INTRUDER. Sure, this kill isn’t so hot because it cuts away, but you later get to see him hanging from the hook. There are lots of great kills in this movie though. Seriously, if anyone knows Scotty Spiegel, please let him know that there is a dude in Austin, TX that is obsessed with his career. Besides directing INTRUDER, he wrote and directed the best FROM DUSK TIL DAWN filmĀ in the series (2), co-wrote EVIL DEAD 2 with Raimi and even wrote the insanely under appreciated Lustig jam, HIT LIST. I love you, Scotty!
Next we have MILLER’S CROSSING. I love this scene even though the audio is WAY out of synch in this clip:
And last but certainly not least, a movie that I urge you to rent, order or borrow immediately…STRYKERS REVENGE aka THOU SHALT NOT KILL…EXCPEPT! This movie is so great! It’s by far Sam’s best performance and without a doubt his best death scene. Luckily, whoever posted this clip included every scene from the movie with Raimi in it, so it’s like the Castle Films version of TSNK…E!
