Draw with Pardee and Correia! Sketch 4 Sketch Is Coming To Mondo!

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

I am happy to announce that The Sketch 4 Sketch Tour is going to be making a stop at Mondo on Thursday April 29th from 5:30-8pm.

“Hey Justin…what’s this Sketch 4 Sketch thing all about?” Well, allow me to let Mr. Alex Pardee explain:

I have been busier than ever lately but, unfortunately, ran into some personal matters that seemed to have stopped me dead in my tracks creatively. And with so many cool creative projects that I have committed to in the near future, including one of the biggest solo art shows in my career, I NEED to jostle my imagination loose and find some inspiration! So, since there is no better way to stimulate my creativity, I, along with artist Dave Correia (playwithknives.com) & director Stephen Reedy, am going to jump in a car, drive all around the country, and attempt to reignite our imaginations by trying to meet and talk with some creative people who have inspired US over the years, while simultaneously meeting as many of you across the country who, in some cases, WE HAVE inspired.

You heard right…Alex Pardee and crew are returning to Austin and will have a meet and greet at Mondo from 5:30pm-8pm on Thursday April 29th. The rules….simple. You draw something for them, they’ll return the favor. We will have tables set up and they will be drawing for you live. These guys are some of the best in the biz and the art they’ve been cranking out on this tour has been nuts…case in point. Not only will they be whipping up some amazing art on the spot, but we’ll have a print set by Pardee available at the show.

I just looked at all of your calendars and saw that your Thursday nights are free, so there is no reason that you can’t all make it out to meet these dudes. Tell your friends, tell your enemies and get down to Mondo tomorrow. Let’s make this the best stop on the tour.

For up to the minute info, I HIGHLY recommend following Mondo and Alex Pardee on TWITTER.

Night Of The Living Dead Poster Available Now!

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

We have been huge fans of Florian Bertmer’s for a long time now and we are thrilled every time we get to work with him. His HOLY MOUNTAIN poster was gorgeous, but this new poster is downright insane. NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, to many, is the ultimate zombie movie and with this we pay tribute to the master director that conceived and executed this marvel over 40 years ago….George Romero.

Poster by Florian Bertmer. 24″x35″ screen print. Hand numbered. Printed by D&L Screen Printing. Edition of 200. Click HERE to buy.

These posters are on sale now and will most likely move fast. If you are in Dallas over the April 30th- May 2nd weekend, check out Frightmare Weekend where George Romero will be a speical guest. I’ll see you there!

Mondo x Fright Rags Plan 9 From Outer Space Collaboration On Sale Today

Friday, April 16th, 2010

If you’ve been watching our Twitter the last few weeks, you might’ve seen me dropping hints of an upcoming PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE project with our friends at Fright Rags. Well, today is the day that the hints stop and we reveal the goods!

We contributed to the poster half of the project and got Todd Slater to do a design for this schlock classic! This poster measures 17″x25″ and is printed with metallic inks.

Fright Rags did an amazing job on the shirt and got the very talented Brandon Minga to put this design together. It is printed on a super soft ringspun cotton shirt and I believe they even have some ladies sizes for sale.

DO NOT WAIT ON THIS! The set will run you $50 and it is limited to only 200 pieces. The shirt and poster are sold together and will not be offered separately. This goes up for sale on Fright Rag’s site at 10am EST. Click here to BUY!

Nic Cage Vs. Adam West AKA I’ve Died And Gone To Heaven

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

I saw this on Slash Film’s VOTD and immediately started to hyperventilate. Yeah, Jay Leno’s a jerk…whatever, but I think because of this we can all change his status from Satan to mere demon.

Nic Cage has been voted the geekiest celebrity several times throughout the years what with his once MASSIVE comic book collection and Ghost Rider tattoo, but he REALLY proves it here with his BATMAN knowledge. He’s sandbagging pretty hard out of respect for West, but him knowing Alfred’s full name and who was the most recurring villain on BATMAN is pretty awesome. Add to that the fact that 90% of actors and actresses in Hollywood probably wouldn’t know who the fuck Burgess Meredith is and there ya go. Proof that Nic Cage is among the coolest dudes on the planet.

BAD LIEUTENANT And THE LOST WORLD Posters On Sale Now!!!

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

Today brings me great joy as we are releasing two of my favorite posters in the Alamo series; BAD LIEUTENANT: PORT OF CALL NEW ORLEANS and THE LOST WORLD!

First up is my personal favorite movie of 2009, BAD LIEUTENANT: PORT OF CALL NEW ORLEANS. It’s no secret that I am a Nic Cage mega fan and this movie just furthered that for me. Besides DEADFALL and VAMPIRE’S KISS, this is probably Cage’s finest hour. Alan Hynes did an amazing job on it and it really gives off a Polish movie poster feel with its unique imagery.

Today also marks the release of the BAD LIEUTENANT DVD! Click HERE for the standard and HERE for the Blu. If you trust my opinion on movies and stuff at all, just know this…I’ve seen this movie literally 6 times now in three different states. I will sing its praises from the highest mountain top until the end of time. It’s that damn good!

Poster by Alan Hynes. 24″x36″ screen print with metallic inks. Hand numbered. Printed by D&L Screen Printing. Edition of 160. Click HERE to purhcase.

Next, we have Dan McCarthy’s THE LOST WORLD poster he created for the SXSW 2010 screening at the Ritz.

Poster by Dan McCarthy. 12″x36″ screen print with metallic inks. Hand numbered. Printed by D&L Screen Printing. Edition of 400. Click HERE to purchase.
