Very happy with the large edition of the regular set, but I do have an issue with the variants. Can you please shed some insight onto why no variant set was ever shown on the poster shop page? Everything else was there, but no link. Then a tweet went out saying there were sets left, but still no link in the tweet! A little frustrating that it was available to some and not all. Just an explanation please, thanks!

Awesome drop. Thanks so much for the larger edition size, because of this, I think everyone who really wanted to score a copy did. They still sold out with the quickness, glad to hear no oversell on this one. Scoring these makes me feel much much better about getting a refund on the moss set.

Managed +1 for the regular set. Like some, I am confused as to what happened with a variant set link. There’s no way someone carted all three individually as they sold out as soon as the went up. I see several people over on EB that snagged variant sets but the link didn’t appear until way after everything was sold out.

@BIGrick I also am in shock. I have been up since 8:30am EST refreshing over and over. Finally I saw them start coming up and as soon as I saw the set I added to cart and got them. My first purchase and really, really, really excited to get these. These are works of art and I feel bad for the folks that were not able to get any. Flippers hope you die in a fire. :D

Well I happened to miss out. Everything showed available and then when I clicked add to cart it just stayed there hung up. By time it actually went threw to my cart said everything was sold out. SUcks cause i was sitting here refreshing the page until it went on sale. O well better luck next time.

Was on your site as soon as they went on sale, big Star Wars fan missed the last set by Olly Moss thought i’d have a go a snagging these.

Managed to get a regular set in my cart plus shipping to the UK $175 what a surprise when the site crashed, went back to my cart to find item no longer available.

Its a shame I am becoming very jaded about this process, its not the first time this has happened this year, and now sets are already on e-bay for ridiculous amounts of money.

Nothin for me today (thems the breaks) but congrats to everyone who scored and a BIG congrats to Mondo for a truly wonderful poster series. You guys put in a lot of hard work and it really paid off. Here’s hoping for more amazing things from the best little poster house in Texas next year and beyond. :)

I was able to score BOTH the Regular and the Variant sets!! As soon as I saw the Regular set show up (Variant wasn’t up yet) I carted and purchased immediately. I went back to mourn the loss of the individual variants (they were already sold out) when I saw the Variant set appear when the page refreshed. Was able to cart and purchase that to!!! OH HAPPY DAY. And Today’s my B-Day to boot! Thanks Justin and the Mondo team. This is the BEST B-DAY GIFT EVER!

Great set of posters. But once again I got timed out at the ‘Pay Now’ button for the regular set, but I did manage to snag ”A New Hope’ poster. I must also add to not seeing the variant set link until after they had sold out – they went quick!

Mondo/Justin, even though there were a few hiccup again I think you are putting some fantastic posters out – keep up the great work. And a special thanks to all the great artists for their stunning work!

    So what is next?

I am sad to say I got nothing. I set up a ton of things to help me jump into the site as soon as it was available, but despite all of my work, and despite there being posters when I clicked the ‘add to cart’ button, nothing made it to the final checkout. Not a single poster was available for me to buy, and I was clicking through less than three minutes after seeing the tweet.

Part of me wonders whether there are people out there writing scripts to get through the checkout system faster than a normal person can. Part of me wonders whether the modern cart system like that of Amazon would be good (perhaps even a 60 second hold in the cart would help). Part of me wonders whether a lottery would have given me a better chance than this speed race.

I know that the site isn’t going to implement these things, and I understand their position even though I disagree with it. It hurts when as a poor college student I don’t even have a chance at getting these posters, since the cost for buying them from the flippers is too much for me to afford and they are gone nearly instantly despite my efforts to grab them.

I like collecting things and enjoy the thrill of the hunt. Time spent looking for oddities that I can add to my collections has been well-spent in my opinion. But I wonder if in the transition from searching through thrift stores and strange little boutiques to the ready-set-go click race we have replaced something fun with something tiresome.

Since these can’t be found anywhere else, we are a captive audience–we have to wait and try and hope, and when we do not get something, when we have not gotten anything in ages, discouragement and frustration taint the anticipation and make us bitter when we lose. I know there’s nothing to be done, but it remains disappointing.

Got a regular set but missed the variant set, which apparently showed up a bit later. Bummed me out as the variant set here is the only thing now standing between me and having a complete set of the SW prints. Even more bummed that I had a chance at the ROTJ variant (my most wanted of the 3 variants), but passed due to waiting for the set to show up. Oh well.

Overall, still pleased with everything and how lucky I’ve been with the series as a whole. : )

It really has been a great ride this year! I’m sure the mysterious appearing variant set and those who managed to turn around and score a set either way will become the stuff of legend in a few years ;)

Got the full Mondo SW set (except these Stout variants) and I am extremely happy at that!

    Here’s to 2011 and whatever it holds…

    HNY fellow collectors!

In one of the tweets it says “We’re going to figure out if we have any leftover after we ship all of the orders. If so, any extras will be for sale in the store.”

Will that be in the actual physical store you guys have or on the website?

Any way to be contacted about that? I had the uncanny ability to miss out on every single one of the prints and would like a set of the regular ones for sure. I’ve had to result to secondary markets for some of the other ones, sometimes with luck and others not.

Any help is appreciated, thanks a bunch!!

Totally awesome adding these to my cart as soon as they went online, only to have your horseshit website crash out and then tell me they are out of stock. oh but you totally care about the fans. give me a fucking break. congrats, you made a few thousand dollars today, and pissed off many more thousands of potential customers. marketing genius!!!

Not gonna hate too much on Mondo – but the drop was as bumpy as joyride during an earthquake. It’s funny how a couple of ebay sellers have multiple auctions… one is selling a variant set, a regular set, and a few singles of both. So much for the one per household eh Justin? All about the fans.

Over 150 listings for the Stout Star Wars prints within a couple hours of the on sale. Flippers have the upperhand on the fans, plan and simple. Mondo cant really do anything about it I guess, just a sad state of affairs to see what has happened. I was lucky and snagged 2 drops out of the entire SW series, but I probably tried for all of them but 2.

^ Sadly that guy is right. Looking at ebay, multiple listings from the same seller. Neat that they could get multiple sets and others couldn’t even get one. One per person/address, lol.

I managed to grab an Empire regular one – as that is the only poster I could get to actually show up in my cart. I really wanted the variant set, but the link never appeared on the page for me, even after he tweeted that there were still a few variant sets left – annoying.

@cdubya: honestly there really isn’t anything Mondo can do about their posters ending up in the aftermarket. You see the run on these things? Damn near a thousand of each of the regular edition. If that ain’t a generous pull nothing is. If one dude gets a couple friends to buy posters and puts them all up under one eBay account that doesn’t somehow make Mondo not “about the fans” anymore as you imply. It just means someone out there is more about making money than participating in this community. Nothing to do with Mondo at all.

Honestly you’ve been posting these jabs at Justin and Mondo for as long back as I care to remember and it’s getting old. Justin cares more about his customers and the fans of these posters than he’ll ever get credit for. Lay off already man.

Reg set timed out on PayPal, Variant set never appeared when I refreshed store page.
(only saw variant set by going through twitter link Justin posted, by which time they were long-gone)

Got a few from the series, which I shall covet – Ansin’s A Wretched Hive (love both versions) and RJ’s Ode to Eno… sorry, I mean, King’s Lead Hat (still to receive, but know it will be all kinds of awesome)

Justin, if any sets do end up back on, just send an email to us unfortunates, rather than put them back in the store ;)

Well, it’s time to eat/drink/& be merry, Happy New Year to one and all!

Jaiden, I defend mondo like no other. Go to twitter or facebook if u wanna know. The cart/ISP on a popular drop just isn’t very smooth.

Don’t tell me to layoff. The business model is not fan driven, it’s money driven, me pouting that out isn’t hating on Justin.

Lesson learned. Do not use paypal to pay for posters. I had the item in my cart. Verified the address, went to paypal and changed my bank account and then i hit submit it said the item was no longer available. Not only did i miss out but I was so pissed off i punched a hole in my wall because this is the second time this has happened to me. I love the items you guys have but come on, it’s time to fix your site.

I managed to score several prints from the Mondo Star Wars run, and managed to nab a regular set of the Stout trilogy prints. It’s sad to see how many sets immediately ended up on ebay for sale, especially considering how many actual fans were upset that they weren’t able to get them. It seems like more than 25% of the people that bought a set, don’t even give a shit or appreciate how great they are, they’re just looking to screw people out of 800+ dollars and make a hefty profit. It’s a shame Mondo can’t really do anything about it. Well, at least I was fortunate enough to get a set. I plan on framing these and displaying them in my living room the instant i recieve them. I will NOT be flipping these.

This one was even more frustrating than the Olly Moss drop. Managed to purchase a set only to receive a cancellation 5 hours later with no explanation as to why. Apparently, despite what was broadcast on Twitter, there was some oversell. Very disappointing. I did call the store and would like to say that the gentleman I spoke to, Marko (sp?) was very nice and helpful. Crappy way to end the year but what are you going to do?

This was an awesome run! I was not a fan of Mondo until I saw the aftermath of the Moss sale talked about on a blog I follow. I really wish I could’ve gotten in on that sale. Those were hands down the best of the series imo. But I was glad to have enough time between those and the Stout set (which is the second best, also imo) to figure out how to work the system and got a set of the regulars. Hopefully I will get them someday. It’s been almost two weeks with no word as to when they’ll be shipped. I have to say I am hooked on this now. I love movies and this is a great way to show that off around the house. Hopefully my wife will let me hang them. lol
