Our Next Soundtrack Announcement on KMFA

Our friend Brian Satterwhite, the online authority of all things soundtracks, is dedicating a whole episode of his radio show to Mondo records. He will be playing a few tracks from various Mondo titles, including our newest releases CORALINE & PARANORMAN (on sale now)

But the real exciting part is that we have also given Brian a few tracks from our next, as of yet unannounced, soundtrack release. Tune in to get a taste of whats to come in May.

Brian’s show airs tonight at 9PM on 89.5 KMFA or streamed live via the radio web site at The I Heart Radio app also carries KMFA for those folks that use that. KMFA also has its own mobile app. Anybody with an internet connection can hear it via the web site or mobile apps.

If you can’t listen tonight, it also re-airs on Saturday at 5PM CST. We are super excited about this one. We hope you tune in.

Mondo Vinyl: THE OMEN On Sale Info!

As Bloody Disgusting premiered yesterday, we will be releasing THE OMEN Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by Jerry Goldsmith on vinyl on March 4th, 2014 and it will feature amazing new artwork by Phantom City Creative.

Not too much else to report on the subject, but we did want to address an issue that will effect this edition in the long term.

The image above is of a third variation of THE OMEN soundtrack that we unfortunately won’t be able to sell on March 4th. Limited to 800 copies, the “Striped” record quite simply has some audio issues that the others don’t, and we are currently getting it repressed to correct this. We don’t know when the repress will arrive, since most plants are bottlenecking due to Record Store Day. It could be a month or two at this point.

We just want to be as transparent as possible, so that when these variants do eventually go on sale you are aware that these aren’t from a second edition pressing. As with all of our records, these are one-time, limited edition pressings.

More info to come. Thank you, as always for supporting our soundtrack label. We have so many more exciting titles coming in the next few weeks / months. We can’t wait to share them with you.

UPDATE: Just a reminder that due to the differing shipping methods, we are not able to combine shipping of Blue Sunshine VHS orders with any vinyl or poster orders. VHS orders will ship separately. That said, we also cannot combine any vinyl orders with poster orders. You are allowed to purchase as many records as you’d like, but we can only ship 2 records per shipment.

This Friday, 2/21, we will be making the regular edition of BLUE SUNSHINE available on our website, as well as releasing our vinyl edition of HERE COMES THE DEVIL.

A special thanks to everyone who came out to the screening of BLUE SUNSHINE last night. It was a blast to see it on the big screen, and a reminder of why we were so excited for this release in the first place.

Thank you for supporting our soundtrack label. This is going to be a big year for us and I can’t wait to share what titles we have in store. We’ve already teased some, but we’re just getting started. Stay tuned for an announcement in the next few days about our next soundtrack release.

We’re Releasing BLUE SUNSHINE on Vinyl and VHS!

We are very excited to announce that we are issuing the soundtrack to BLUE SUNSHINE on vinyl for the very first time. We will also be reissuing the film on limited edition VHS!

Featuring artwork by Jay Shaw and remastered for vinyl by James Plotkin, this deluxe first time pressing on vinyl is limited to 1,000 copies. Pressed on 180 gram heavy weight black vinyl with a randomly-inserted translucent blue variant.

The clamshell packaged VHS, limited to 400 copies, is available in BLACK and randomly-inserted BLUE cassettes.

In celebration of both releases, this coming Monday 2/17, Mondo & Music Monday are pleased to present a 35mm screening of the cult classic film at the Alamo Drafthouse Ritz in Austin with writer/director, Jeff Lieberman, in attendance. We will be premiering the Blue VHS and a special Blue Iris colored vinyl (limited to 200 copies) at the screening event.

More about the film below:
Jerry Zipkin is a nice guy. He graduated top of his class. He’s respectful of women. He’s in love. It seems like Zipkin’s got it made, until the night one of his friends loses his hair to spontaneous alopecia totalus, freaks out and throws three innocent women into a fireplace. Now Zipkin’s on the run from the law, wrongfully accused, trying to prove his innocence. It turns out others are going bald and going on murderous rampages. It’s up to Zipkin to find the missing link. It turns out they all have one thing in common, and that one thing is called BLUE SUNSHINE.

Writer/director Jeff Lieberman will be in attendance to talk about the film, as well as sign copies of the soundtrack and VHS.

Film Synopsis:
HERE COMES THE DEVIL combines modern indie filmmaking and storytelling with a hint of ‘70s-styled psychological horror that may not just be psychological. Francisco Barreiro and Laura Caro play parents Felix and Sol whose preteen son and daughter inexplicably reappear after being lost overnight on a desolate, cave-riddled mountainside after a casual hike became every parent’s nightmare. The good luck and good fortune of their return soon changes, as the children’s behavior suggests ominous and unspeakable events the night the children were lost that continue even now. As a loving couple – and loving parents – try to care for and protect their children, the ancient and half-whispered legends around the caves and the mountain and those who have gone there before become too strange to believe…and too dangerous, no matter how insane, to ignore.

Mondo Vinyl: TIMECRIMES LP On Sale Info!

Mondo is excited to announce the limited edition vinyl release of the TIMECRIMES Original Motion Picture Soundtrack at a special Fantastic Fest screening on Thursday, September 26 at the Alamo Drafthouse Lakeline. Director Nacho Vigalondo’s sci-fi thriller became a sensation following its world premiere at Fantastic Fest in 2007, where it was championed for its bold and innovative take on the time-travel genre. Filmmaker Eugenio Mira composed the soundtrack, which has never been released previously, and We Buy Your Kids did the gorgeous artwork for the limited edition vinyl.

Composer and writer Brian Satterwhite collaborated with Mondo on the project, “Timecrimes has been hailed by critics and audiences alike as one of the best time-travel films of our time. Much of the film’s success relies heavily upon Eugenio Mira’s masterful score. His minimalistic approach maximizes the subtle tones and nuances of the narrative with surgical precision while adding a highly refined layer of polish to this high-concept science-fiction thriller.”

The soundtrack will be made available on black 180 gram vinyl, and randomly-inserted milky yellow/clear vinyl. It will be available for purchase at the Fantastic Fest screening of Timecrimes on September 26, and will be for sale online at a future date. Please follow @MondoNews for updates.

On Friday we will be releasing the films soundtrack as our sixth LP release of the year. The music, by mononymous French musician Rob, is retro-synth reminiscent of the unique synthesizer soundtracks of the 1980’s.

We hope you check out the film this weekend, or when it opens at a theater near you. If you have seen the film you know how good this soundtrack is.
